About the Nanaimo Youth ChoirAbout The Nanaimo Youth Choir

Nanaimo Youth Choir is an auditioned, community choir for youth ages 5 to 19. Founded in 1992 by Marian Smith, we are a division of the Nanaimo Conservatory of Music.

Since its beginning, the Nanaimo Youth Choir has performed frequently at community and competitive events, and has received numerous local, regional and national awards including:

  • Six-time winner in our class at the BC Festival of the Arts
  • Second place in our class at the Canadian National Music Festival 2012
  • Civic Merit Award from the City of Nanaimo each time we have won provincial competition

Many of our members have been with the choir for more than five years and some for over ten years!

The Nanaimo Youth Choir act as ambassadors of Nanaimo’s young people, sharing the simple joy of making music together. If you love to sing <link to join us page> join us and share your voice with your community, and maybe even at Carnegie Hall in New York City!
